Vertical Horizon headlines Family Fest

Vertical Horizon was formed in the 1990s and is best known for the 1999 hit single, “Everything You Want”. 
 

Vertical Horizon an American alternative rock band, is the headline performers for the 34th annual Pelham Medical Center Family Fest May 4-5 throughout downtown Greer.

The band formed in the 90s is best known for the 1999 hit single, “Everything You Want”. Their most recent album, “The Lost Mile” was released on Feb. 23. Vertical Horizon will perform May 5 at 8 p.m.

Randall Street first up for infrastructure replacement in May

Randall Street will be the first downtown street to undergo water and sewer line replacement beginning in the latter part of May.

Greer CPW Commissioners approved $380,535 to Dillard Excavating Co. Inc. for the first phase of the estimated $4 – $4.5 million project to replace the central business district’s aging infrastructure and incorporate a new streetscape appearance. Some of the downtown infrastructure is more than 100-years old, city officials said.

Chase Bryant, 24, is the youngest headliner at the Greer Family Festival.
 

Chase Bryant is the headline performer for the 33rd Annual Pelham Medical Center Greer Family Festival Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, throughout downtown Greer and City Park.

Bryant, 24, will perform a concert on May 6 at 7:30 p.m. He is the youngest entertainer to headline the festival.

Normal festival street closures, reserve parking available

All dressed and waiting to introduce the party scene to festival goers.
 
 

The City of Greer will close the usual downtown streets for this weekend’s Family Fest. However, reserve parking is being offered behind the Hot Spot off Poinsett Street. It is across from City Park where Edwin McCain will perform Saturday night.

Reserve parking Friday is $5 for 6-10 p.m. and $10 Saturday. Festival hours are 10 a.m. – 10:30 Saturday. Call 864-416-1716 to reserve a space or drive to the lot.

Edwin McCain will be the headline performer for the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce's 32nd Annual Pelham Medical Center Greer Family Festival.

"This year’s event will be another great time for families to enjoy all of the great things our community has to offer. Having Edwin McCain as our head line performer will be exciting as we welcome another home grown musical artist to our stage," said festival Chairman Rudy Painter.

Joe Fowler caught the big fish in a past Family Fest fishing tournament. The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce is dropping the tournament as part of its Family Fest activities.
 

The Bass Fishing Tournament, promoted by the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce, as part of its spring Family Fest, has been dropped.

The tournament, fished on Lake Robinson, has routinely preceded the festival with the winners presented at the opening ceremonies.

Megan Watts sang the National Anthem at Fluor Field Thursday night. Watts, Greer Idol Teen in 2013, performed during one competition as GreerToday.com streamed her performance to Afghanistan where her father watched and his unit was given a shout out by those attending.

Greer is expecting possibly its biggest turnout ever at the 31st Annual Pelham Medical Center Family Fest beginning today at 6 p.m.

The weekend weather, clear skies and temperatures in the 70s, and entertainment featuring some homegrown, award-winning national talent are scheduled. It will all lead to Saturday’s finale with Sister Hazel performing.
